Friday, May 8 - Today, Rozzi releases her eagerly awaited new album ‘Fig Tree,’ produced by Mocky (Feist, Kelela, Moses Sumney) and recorded in his LA studio. The 14 track album marks her first full length project since ‘Berry (Deluxe),’ which featured the legendary Nile Rodgers and PJ Morton. This new record grapples with big existential questions without prescribing neat resolutions. The work is a deep dive into all of the uncertainty and change that comes with growth, but, ultimately, it’s about trust. It’s about staring into the unknown and not trying to control it, while also reassuring yourself that you have put in the work to become the kind of artist and human you were always meant to be. Watch Rozzi perform “All for a Man” on The Kelly Clarkson Show HERE.
To celebrate the ambitious new project, she will open her immersive six week gallery show and residency at new Los Angeles venue LAX running from May 14 through June 11 (tickets on sale now).
Rozzi shared “I made this album at a point of transition. I was entering a time where the choices I made started to feel like they could affect the rest of my life. I was facing a lot of change, but I was also returning to myself. In that way, this album makes me think of the Miles Davis quote, ‘sometimes it takes you a long time to sound like yourself.’ Maybe it was working with Mocky, maybe it was recording to tape and doing mostly full, live takes. But whatever it was, I’ve never sounded so much like myself.”
When Rozzi first began writing Fig Tree she had just left her 20s behind, reached a new stage in a long-term relationship, watched her brother become a father, and was reading books like Motherhood by Sheila Heti and The Bell Jar. As in Sylvia Plath’s seminal work, the fig tree is a powerful and looming metaphor for this chapter of the singer-songwriter’s life. With each extending branch, a choice. With each choice, the promise of a new life. Read more in her personal essay in Bustle. Singles included “All for a Man,” “Good News,” - co-written by hitmaker Mr Hudson (Frank Ocean, Miley Cyrus, Duran Duran, Jay-Z) - “Hold Tight” and title track “Fig Tree.”

Fig Tree was mastered by legendary audio engineer Bernie Grundman, whose credits include “Purple Rain” by Prince, “Thriller” by Michael Jackson, “The Chronic” by Dr. Dre, “Aja” by Steely Dan, and many more. Notable co-writers and contributors include Jack Stratton, Larry Goldings, Leo Abrahams, Wendy Wei-Jo Wang, Eric Leva, Zak Waters and others.
This past fall, alongside a panel of celebrity judges - Gia Coppola, Simon Le Bon, Julian Lennon, Kiersey Clemons and Simon Shaw - Rozzi selected artists to showcase original artworks inspired by the tracks on her upcoming album. Presented at Ki Smith Gallery on New York’s Lower East Side, 26 artists were selected to participate in the exhibition, from over 500 global submissions. Rozzi would return to the space weekly to perform both new material from her upcoming record and favorites from her existing catalogue.
Now in LA, the show will evolve, inviting visual artists - including some returning - to create new works for this next chapter of Fig Tree as it becomes available for fans and listeners. The works will live in the venue over the course of the six week residency, which will also include weekly performances. Following these performances, an after hours party will open up into a new unseen part of the venue, with surprise guests and performances. Visitors can expect an immersive and ever changing experience inspired by the world of Fig Tree.
